Biden = brilliant.

Gotta say AP's Ron Fournier got it wrong this time. Obama's pick of Joe Biden was fantastic, for at least three reasons:

1. His image - an older, white-haired white guy. Biden brings the perfect balance for any voters who are less than comfortable with Obama's age or skin tone. There, we said it. It may sound shallow, but guess what, that's reality baby. If you want to ask someone what it's like to be on a truly breakthrough ticket, ask Walter Mondale.
2. His experience. The strongest argument McCain HAD was that Obama lacks foreign policy experience. So Obama picks a guy who leapfrogs McCain in that department - kapow!
3. His mouth. Biden has the charisma and the balls to say and do what a veep candidate needs to say and do. Remember his shot at Giuliani - that every statement out of the guy contained a noun, a verb, and "9/11?" That's exactly the kind of attack dog that Obama will need against a desperate Republican campaign headed up by a Karl Rove protege.

Anyone who is upset about Biden being not unconventional enough, not outsider enough, or not Hillary enough needs to get over it. As with most of the rest of his campaign, Obama has made a truly smart choice in a running mate.

Get some popcorn, McCain - this is gonna be a long movie.
