Q: Are you offended by the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not? (2006 policy questionnaire)
PALIN: "Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, it's good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance."
The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892, and was not made the official pledge of the United States until 1942 (six years after John McCain was born). The words "under God" were added in 1954. And the founding fathers are spinning in their graves at the thought of Sarah being a heartbeat away from the Commander in Chief position.
